The soft parade gets nothing done. Look at the history – it speaks
for itself. Leadership that is counterfeit, nor leadership that is
lacking, nor leadership that plays it safe – none of that is leadership
at all… The people bleed from the injuries of Democratic betrayal
and Republican sharks smell blood in the water.

It’s common knowledge that the Democratic Congressional
Campaign Committee (DCCC), the Congressional Progressive
Caucus (CPC) and a coterie of ‘progressive’ groups (e.g.
Campaign
for America's Future, Progressive Congress Action Fund,
Move On,
Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC), Democracy for
America (DFA), Progressive Democrats of America (PDA), various
labor groups like AFSCME, AFL-CIO, etc.) had a series of Meet and
Greet 2012 events for Democratic candidates in the last week of
October 2011.

Oddly, the attendees at these events were nearly identical. How can
that be?

Either the DCCC is a progressive bastion - which we all know it is
not, or – the supposedly progressive meetings of minds were
nothing of the kind.

If liberal groups simply piggyback a panel of establishment
candidates, how progressively effective a strategy is that? What is
the likelihood that such a strategy will cultivate, produce and elect
truly capable liberals that have the political fortitude to do what must
be done? Instead, such a plan is more like a coup d’etrat right out of
the gate, no? It commits the accident of perpetuating the status quo
by encouraging liberal complicity with the worst elements of
political opportunism and socioeconomic bigotry. I’ll leave it for you
to decide.

More damaging, the aforementioned Beltway groups harbor a
disdain, prejudice and intolerance of the poor, working and middle
class as evidenced by their candidate selection. They claim to
‘represent’ the poor, working and middle class – but don’t want to
know them. They don’t want to work with them. And they don’t want
representatives to come from these ranks of people.  This is a
political environment where the 1% and their representatives are
seeking the legitimacy and support of the 99% while excluding them
from the work of political representation - this is a gigantic
hypocrisy.

Every single institutional person and Beltway establishment entity
our campaign spoke with at these events made it clear that we
would receive no establishment support for our New Deal campaign
unless we had first raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Another person agreed, and confirmed that “Yes, this is true,”
unless we can show that we have lots of supporters. We indicated
that we have countless supporters, a growing number of volunteers
and nearly one thousand contributors that have donated their hard-
earned money to make sure they are represented by a truly
competent, dedicated and liberal representative.

The punchline we may gather is that, in the eyes of the
establishment, our supporters are not ‘wealthy’ – or do not donate
large quantities of money, so therefore, – they don’t matter. Can you
imagine our surprise at such ‘Democratic’ socioeconomic bigotry!

It may be possible to soon identify what we may come to
understand as Democratic, and even perhaps, progressive
‘neocons.’ Assuredly, a dark development on the American
landscape and horizon of the supposed party of the people.

Progression entails risk. FDR’s New Deal was not safe and the
Beltway establishment was as against it then as it is now. And yet, it
now defines the American psyche more than any other American
policy to date.

One cannot expect to progress without risk – there are no pragmatic
adventures.

Pragmatic progressives are walking contradictions. So think twice
before you ‘chip in $3 before midnight.’ Consider first, who is asking
for it – consider what they have done with your time, money and
country, and what they propose to do with it in the future.

I’m running for U.S. Representative in Congress for Florida District
24. I am a dyed in the wool, old-school liberal. Help me get elected
so that I can continue the progressive work that FDR started.

I am a New Deal Democrat and I need your help.

America needs your help.

Now, and until the end of the world.
