Many people ask, what is it that we need that New Deal Democrats
can deliver?

I tell them we will expand the New Deal. Improve upon it for the
betterment of a generation. We are liberal. We are progressive. We
embody the 21st century reality that FDR and America hoped for
and began.

Why are progressive New Deal Democrats necessary? Because two
Republican parties, is one too many. If you give up on your
government – I guarantee it will give up on you.

Leaderless movements? No such thing.

Democrat Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-20), current chair of the
Democratic National Committee (DNC), criticized Republican Mitt
Romney’s ‘Jello’ antics and lack of consistency on primal issues of
choice, environment, immigration and so on. But there’s plenty of
‘Jello’ in the White House and Democratic Party machinery as well,
no?

So what shall it be for Democrats going into 2012 - true blue
America, or eyes wide shut?

We can’t have it both ways.

Will the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC)
help to elect progressive New Deal Democrats? Will President
Obama return the liberal favor that elected him in the first place? Or
will Wall St. decide, unrestrained, unchecked and unchallenged?

Next week, I travel to Washington, DC to meet with a panel of
progressive leaders, the Congressional Progressive Caucus and
the DCCC. I will tell them what you have told me. I will tell them what
you want America to do.

The truth is – you write the rules. So pick up your pen. Help us win.
Bring a liberal back to Capitol Hill. You’re not satisfied with the
status quo. Make it better.

It has already begun.
